Duterte campaigning for PDP-Laban candidates a 'welcome development'—Mayor Sara
Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (LAKAS-CMD) vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is joyed at President Rodrigo Duterte’s willingness to campaign for Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) candidates in the upcoming polls.

President Duterte is chairman of one faction of the PDP-Laban party led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi. Cusi earlier said the Chief Executive will start campaigning for the PDP-Laban national and local candidates starting March 25.
PDP-Laban has also adopted the younger Duterte as their vice presidential candidate last Jan. 21.
"I think it is a welcome development for the PDP party and the PDP candidates na mabibigyan sila ng push sa pag-campaign ng kabilang party. Nandiyan naman na si President Duterte for them (that they will get a push in their campaigns from the other party)," younger Duterte told reporters during an ambush interview in Malabon City on Friday, March 4.
"Ang panawagan namin sa lahat ng kasama natin ay magkaisa tayo sa election (We call for unity this election),” she added.
However, Mayor Sara wants more. She has previously said that she wishes to see President Duterte’s endorsement of UniTeam partner and presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
So far, President Duterte has not endorsed any presidential candidate.
The younger Duterte is running for the vice presidency alongside Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) presidential bet Marcos. The two comprise the so-called UniTeam tandem.
