ISABELA---- The Department of Agriculture (DA ) Region 2 will focus on its "Plant, plant, plant" program to ensure food sufficiency and in preparation for the possible economic impact of the tension between Russia and Ukraine.
Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo of DA Region 2 said the agency has allocated funds for the purchase of vegetable seeds and will re -strengthen the DA's "Plant, plant, plant" program in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), the local government units (LGUs), and state colleges and universities.

This, he said, will promote the planting of vegetables that are easy to grow especially during rainy seasons.
He noted that what is happening in Russia and Ukraine will definitely affect everyone and that it will help if the country is prepared.
"It's good to plant more vegetables so we would have something to eat in case the situation worsens," he added.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar had proposed measures during a Cabinet meeting in Malacanang on March 1 that will help cushion the impact of global economic challenges and the Russia-Ukraine crisis on Philippine food security.
President Duterte, in approving these measures, said : “We should help our farmers and fishers to be more productive and earn a decent income.”
