UniTeam strategy: Split up to cover more ground

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon--The UniTeam alliance of presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has opted to campaign separately as a way to garner the support of more voters with roughly a month to go before the May 9 polls.

While Marcos and Duterte both shared the stage in multiple rallies across the Davao region on Wednesday, March 30, they also campaign separately as part of their strategy.

“Maraming areas ang 'di po kami magkasama dahil iba-iba po iyung areas na kailangan naming tutuka (There are lots of areas where Bongbong and I aren't together because we have different areas of focus)," Duterte told reporters in an ambush interview on Thursday, March 31.

"That is the agreement, to cover more areas. We need to split up and collaborate on certain areas," she further explained.

Duterte led rallies in Liway, Bataan; and in Antipolo City on March 31.

On the same day, Marcos conducted sorties in here; in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur; and then in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, also on Thursday.

Marcos has mostly campaigned around Mindanao since March 27 without the presence of Duterte.

Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa represented Duterte during the inauguration of the UniTeam-Tingog Party-list headquarters here Thursday.

Before Dela Rosa, Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte also stood in for the Mayor Duterte during sorties in General Santos City, South Cotabato; and Koronadal City, South Cotabato on March 27.
