"We are one with Mayor Sara Duterte in her call 'Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas (Let's love the Philippines)' this is a basic requirement for the country’s full recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic as well as for the fulfillment of our sacred mandate to serve and protect our people, as enshrined in the Party constitution," NUP General and spox Reggie Velasco in a statement on Thursday, March 31.

A week ago last Thursday, March 24, the NUP also endorsed UniTeam presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos.

Conversely, NUP President and Cavite 4th district Rep. Elpidio Barzaga endorsed opposition candidate Vice President Leni Robredo's presidential campaign last Sunday, March 27, defying the party's original endorsement.

The NUP's Team Unity slate previously also endorsed both Robredo and Duterte, furthering the RoSa (Robredo-Sara) movement which is currently gaining traction in Mindanao.
