Mayor Sara vows to deliver Bisaya votes to Ilocano prexy-bet Marcos


DIGOS CITY—UniTeam vice presidential bet Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte promised to get Bisaya voters to support Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s presidential campaign.

"Tayong mga Bisaya, mangangako na mananalo ang Ilocano dito sa ating lugar (Us Bisaya peole, we promise to support the Ilocano here)," said Lakas—Christian Muslim Democrats chair Duterte during a UniTeam grand rally in Digos City, Davao Del Sur on Wednesday, March 30.

"Ang mga Ilocano at mga Tagalog, nangako na mananalo ang Bisaya (Duterte) sa kanilang lugar, (The Ilocano and Tagalog people have promised to support the Bisaya people)," she added.

Marcos Jr. hails from the Ilocos Region. He has, in the past, served as Ilocos Norte's vice governor, governor, and also as Ilocos Norte's 2nd district representative.

Marcos Jr.'s father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., similarly served as Ilocos Norte's 2nd district representative.

Meanwhile, the Davao region in Mindanao is considered Duterte bailiwick given that Mayor Duterte and her father President Rodrigo Duterte both served as Davao City Mayors, while her brother, Sebastian Duterte, is the incumbent vice mayor running for mayor.

According to the February Pulse Asia survey, Marcos and Duterte took most of the Mindanao-based votes among participants, at 68 percent and 82 percent respectively.
