CEBU CITY—The city of Lapu-Lapu has been reduced to Alert Level 1.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, chief pathologist of the Department of Health-Central Visayas, said the city’s appeal for de-escalation of its alert level status was approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force following the reconciliation of data involving the number of vaccinated senior citizens in the city.
It can be recalled that Lapu-Lapu was not included in the list of local government units in Metro Cebu that were downgraded to the more relaxed Alert Level 1 status after it was found out that the number of vaccinated senior citizens did not reach 70 percent.
Loreche, who also serves as the city’s consultant on health, said the city appealed its status and complied with the requirements that led to its downgrading to Alert Level 1.
Loreche announced the city’s downgrading during the National Joint Task Force-Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict Meeting that was to be attended by President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, March 31, in Lapu-Lapu.
After the meeting, the President is set to attend the proclamation rally of PDP-Laban in Lapu-Lapu.
Aside from local candidates led by Lapu-Lapu Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, the President was expected to endorse PDP-Laban’s senatorial candidates.
According to the public information office of Lapu-Lapu, expected to grace the proclamation rally are Astra Pimentel, Rey Langit, Greco Belgica, Robin Padilla, Rodante Marcoleta, Salvador Panelo and Mark Villar.
