Operatives from the Northern Police District (NPD) Special Operations Unit (DSOU) arrested a man for allegedly selling illegal guns in Barangay Longos, Malabon City on Wednesday evening, March 30.
Lt. Col. Jay Dimaandal, DSOU chief, said the suspect, John Christian Elpaulino, 28, a resident of Caloocan City, yielded a .38-caliber revolver in a buy-bust operation.
Police said the DSOU immediately dispatched a team to Alupihang Dagat in Barangay Longos at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving information from an informant about the suspect’s illegal gun trade in the area.
Elpaulino was brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for physical examination after his arrest and was turned over to the DSOU office for proper disposition.
Police said the suspect was temporarily detained at the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) Custodial facility.
He will be charged for violation of Section 32 of Republic Act 10591 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition) and election gun ban under the OmnIbus Election Code of the Philippines.
