The easterlies, also known as the warm and humid winds from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to bring a generally fair and warm weather condition all over the country in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, March 31.

“Patuloy na umiiral ang easterlies sa buong bahagi ng ating bansa. Dala pa rin po nito ‘yung mainit at maalinsangang panahon lalo na sa tanghali at ‘yung mga tiyansa ng pulu-pulong pag-ulan, pagkulog, at pagkidlat sa dakong hapon at gabi lalo na sa silangang bahagi ng ating bansa (The easterlies prevail throughout the country. It brings hot and humid weather at noon and the chances of isolated rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in the afternoon and evening especially in the eastern part of the country),” said PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda in a public weather forecast.
As the easterlies prevail all over the country, Castañeda advised the public to avoid direct exposure to sunlight especially at noon.
Drinking enough water, according to the weather specialist, is likewise advised to avoid the possible harm that the hot and humid weather may bring.
PAGASA’s data showed that on Wednesday, March 30, a “dangerous” heat index of 50 degrees celsius (°C) was recorded in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, while an apparent heat of 42°C was observed in Aparri, Cagayan.
Meanwhile, according to Castañeda, no weather disturbance is expected to develop nor affect the country throughout the forecast period.
