Bruce Willis quits acting due to aphasia, ex-wife Demi Moore supports through his health struggles

Actor Bruce Willis has quit acting after he was diagnosed with aphasia, a condition caused by brain damage.
This was revealed by Emma Heming Willis, wife of Bruce, and all five of his children, in a signed statement released on March 30. Demi Moore, former wife of Bruce, also signed the same statement.

The full statement:
"To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.
"As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.
"This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.
"Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn."
Willis, 67, shares three daughters — Rumer, 33, Scout, 30, and Tallulah, 28 — with Moore, 59, and two daughters — Mabel, nine, and Evelyn, seven — with Heming Willis, 43, according to the dailymail.co.uk.
The Mayo Clinic said that "aphasia is a condition that robs you of the ability to communicate. It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written.
"Aphasia typically occurs suddenly after a stroke or a head injury. But it can also come on gradually from a slow-growing brain tumor or a disease that causes progressive, permanent damage (degenerative). The severity of aphasia depends on a number of conditions, including the cause and the extent of the brain damage.
"Once the cause has been addressed, the main treatment for aphasia is speech and language therapy. The person with aphasia relearns and practices language skills and learns to use other ways to communicate. Family members often participate in the process, helping the person communicate," the Mayo Clinic added.
Moore and Willis finalized their divorced in 2000.
Despite this, Moore is close to Willis and his new family. Moore and Willis remain good friends.
'I still love Demi. We’re very close. We have three children whom we will continue to raise together, and we’re probably as close now as we ever were. We realize we have a lifelong commitment to our kids. Our friendship continues. The institution has been set aside… It’s difficult to live your life and marriage under a magnifying glass, which is what happens to movie star couples," said Willis, in an article by Rolling Stones, as published by dailmail.co.uk.
The statement did not say how Willis got aphasia.

On Instagram last March 19, Moore greeted Willis on his 67th birthday.
"Happy birthday, Bruce! Thankful for our blended family," wrote Moore.
