Bato scolded by daughters over Gretchen, e-sabong issue

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon--Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa said he has been scolded by his daughters because of the online cockfighting (e-sabong) issue.

More specifically, it's his spat with actress and online personality Gretchen Barretto over e-sabong that has caused his daughters to be upset with him.

"Alam mo, pinagalitan ako ng mga anak ko na babae. Bakit daw ako pumapatol sa babae (You know, my daughters scolded me. They asked why I was quarreling with a woman)," Dela Rosa told reporters during a chance interview at the inauguration of the UniTeam-Tingog Party-list headquarters here.

The "woman" that the solon is referring to is Barretto, who is linking him to e-sabong. Incidentally, Dela Rosa has led the Senate's investigation on the case of the missing 30 or so sabungeros or cockfighting gamers--a topic that has dominated discussions on e-sabong regulation.

"Bayaan mo na yun (Just leave it)," he said about Barretto's accusations.

"Hindi na ko pagpatol whatever she says pabayaan mo nalang siya. Hindi na ko pagpatol otherwise hindi na ko makapasok sa bahay magagalit sakin mga anak ko, dalawang anak ko na buntis magagalit sakin (I won't address that issue anymore, whatever she says, just leave her alone. I won't address that anymore otherwise my daughters will get mad and I may not be able to enter the house, I have two pregnant daughters that will get mad at me)," said the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief.

Dela Rosa had earlier branded Barretto's linking of him with e-sabong as "character assassination".
