Eight out of the 16 barangays in Paranaque City are now free of Covid-19, the city government announced Thursday.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) and the City Health Office (CHO) reported that the Covid-19 count in the city is now declining with only 15 active cases, including four new patients.
Olivares said Barangay BF still has five Covid-19 cases, Don Bosco and Sun Valley have two each, while five other barangays have one each, and eight barangays have zero cases.
He noted that since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, Paranaque City recorded a total of 50,807 persons who contracted the disease with 784 deaths.
The mayor said the city has recorded 98.43% recoveries.
Olivarez is encouraging all residents to continue observing the health protocols like wearing of face masks and observing physical distancing because the record submitted by the CESU and CHO does not mean the city is already free from the virus.
He said the police and barangay officials were ordered to continue conducting patrol all over the city to remind the residents of the health protocols.
