Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared on Tuesday, March 29, his answers to a student's homework during a barangay caucus.
Prior to Team “Giting ng Pasig”’s house-to-house campaign and caucus in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City, a second-year public administration student reached out to Sotto on Twitter.
In a Twitter post, Sotto answered: “Ito na! Napasulat tuloy ako ng essay habang nasa caucus. DILG MC No. 2019-72 ‘yung tinutukoy ko. Good luck sa assignment!” (Here it is! I wrote an essay during the caucus. DILG MC No. 2019-72 is what I’m referring to. Good luck with your assignment!)
He shared a photo of the notebook handed to him during the caucus with his written answers.

The question posed to him was, “how can the public best participate in the planning process of the local government unit (LGU)?”
“Ordinary citizens should take advantage of the mechanisms for participation that the government has to offer. Brgy. level - Brgy. assemblies, development councils; City level - join or form NGOs / CSOs, get accredited by the LGU, participate in the selection of the NGOs/CSOs for the local special bodies such as the city development council, etc.,” he wrote.
Sotto explained that the City Development Council is where the LGU’s budget passes before going to the Sanggunian.
The mayor also apologized for his handwriting.
Netizens commended Sotto’s openness in engaging with young people and educating them about the political process.
Twitter user @MiaMagdalena said, “Much can be learned from good public servants who take the time to share their knowledge. To more Vicos in government service!”
@Dhel_Bit said, “Pasado na ‘yun may assignment, si mayor na ang nagsulat” (The student will get passing marks in her assignment. The mayor himself answered it.)
Others joked that Sotto had a “doctor’s handwriting.” @stanSB19mgabeh wrote, “Mayor, gusto mo magshift sa pagiging doctor? HAHAHA” (Mayor, do you want to shift to being a doctor? HAHAHA).
Sotto was defended by @ArmyAnji who wrote: “There’s a lot of ideas popping in the mayor’s head while he wrote the answers which made his handwriting look that way.”
Other users took the chance to voice their adoration for the mayor with their hugot lines.
@_nyeka remarked: “Mayor, may assignment din po ako. Ang mahalin ka” (Mayor, I also have an assignment. To love you).
