Marikina Vice Mayor Andres to build physical health center, expand free health services if re-elected

Incumbent Vice Mayor Dr. Marion Andres said on Tuesday, March 29, that he plans to establish a physical health center and expand free health services to citizens in Marikina City if he is re-elected in the upcoming polls.

In a Facebook post, Andres said the modern facility will serve Marikeños who are experiencing stroke, osteoarthritis, and cerebral palsy, as well as those who suffered from injuries due to vehicular accidents.

The center will complement the existing efforts of the Office of the Vice Mayor (OVM) in providing accessible healthcare in the city.

As of January 2022, many Marikeños have received tests for urinalysis (700), PAP smear, (1,562), electrocardiogram (ECG) (764), 340 for a Fasting Blood Sugar (340), and Random Blood Sugar (540), and cataract screening (800).

Thousands have also availed of minor medical services such as ear piercings (2,000), teeth extraction (1,600), and eye check-up (3,000).

Around 200 individuals have also benefited from a free mental health consultation to address depression and isolation of individuals during the quarantine amid the pandemic.

The OVM also led the Home Vaccination Program (HVP) for bedridden citizens or those who are unable to go to the Covid-19 vaccination sites.

From April 2021 to March 29, 2022, around 1,200 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 through the HVP.

The OVM also offered free medicines for high blood diabetes and vitamins such as Losartan, Metformin, Amlodipine, and Vitamin C.
