LTO starts operating 2nd plate-making machine

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently started operating its second automated plate-making machine for motorcycles, complementing the first machine for motor vehicle plates.

The second machine is capable of manufacturing 450 motorcycle plates per hour, or 3,600 motorcycle plates in an eight-hour shift a day.

It can turn out 7,200 motorcycle plates a day on a two-shift basis, or 158,400 motorcycle plates a month on a two-shift per day basis.

The LTO Plate-Making Facility was established in April 2018 to fast track the production and distribution of license plates, which had been outsourced in the past.

With only 93 days before the Duterte administration comes to an end, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) remains committed to the modernization of the LTO, Secretary Art Tugade maintained.
