Father Robert Reyes, the Urban Poor Associates (UPA) and urban poor groups, held a prayer rally in front of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Intramuros, Manila on Wednesday, March 30.

During their activity, the group prayed for Comelec to uphold fair and honest 2022 elections.
They also asked God to guard the Comelec and keep it safe from any anomalies such as fraud, vote-selling, deception, and bias for or against powerful candidates.
"Fill all Comelec commissioners and its staff with pure intentions, truth, and honesty. Please use us, the people, to guard the Comelec, this very sacred branch of the government that is expected to defend and preserve the ballots and the election process from voting in the precincts to counting votes," said Reyes.
"The Church encourages us not to give up on our search and defense for truth. We believe that the Comelec will persevere in overcoming evil by goodness. We hope that the Comelec’s inter-agency task force against vote-buying will serve the common good," he added.
Lastly, Reyes asked everyone to pray “to give the country leaders that will lift us from poverty, corruption, violence and selfish politics.”
