Calapan City surpasses Covid-19 vaccination target

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro -- City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan said the city was able to vaccinate 102,151 individuals, way beyond the city’s target under its COVID-19 vaccination program.

Mayor Panaligan said the city’s level of vaccination achieved herd immunity status, something that most local government units long for.

Panaligan credited the successful vaccination campaign to the big help it drew from the local city health and sanitation department headed by Dr. Lisa Llanto and her team, Dr. Ma. Teresita N. Bolor, Dr. Shaula de Ocampo, Dr. Rachelle Aranez, Dr. Mencee Alferez and Dr. Reo Cantos and their staff.

The mayor expressed his appreciation of the assistance rendered by the other city hall departments that provided additional personnel and logistical support to the vaccination efforts.

Special mention was also made acknowledging the efforts of barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay officials for ensuring that city residents as well as those in rural barangays are properly vaccinated.

Panaligan also thanked the Department of Health – MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) which set up a separate allocation of vaccines in order to fast track the vaccination activities.
