Veteran thespian Dido de la Paz pleads for financial assistance, prayers

Dido de la Paz, who's battling cancer, is asking fans for financial help and prayers.

On Facebook, the 65-year-old star shared how he's unable to sleep because of the challenges he has been facing.

"Paano na kaya ito???... Sabi ng doktor hindi na raw pwedeng operahan yung cancer ko. Kumalat na. Base sa nakita sa ctscan, umabot na sa utak ko," he shared.

Dido was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma some years ago.

On the official website of rarediseases.org, it said to be a type of cancer that begins in glandular tissues and most commonly arises in the major and minor salivary glands of the head and neck.

Dido said he needs to undergo more tests but he doesn't have the means to do so.

"May nasilip din sila'ng kung ano sa lungs ko. Kailangan kong ma test to rule out TB dahil baka mahawaan ko ang pamilya ko, ang mommy ko na 96 yrs old na at mga anak kong mga bata pa," he related.

According to Dido, chemotherapy is no longer an option.

"Hindi din daw makukuha sa chemo," was how he put it. "Radioncology daw ang posible pero mahal. Kailangan ng cranial ctscan, chest ctscan,o baka petscan para isahan nalang."

Note that radiation oncology is the area of medicine that uses radiation to treat cancer and other diseases.

Dido admitted the expenses are stressing him out.

"Lumolobo ang utak ko sa halagang kakailanganin. Gusto kong gumaling, lumaban! Gusto kong mabuhay, hindi para sa akin kundi para sa mga anak ko na mga nagaaral pa at ako lang ang inaasahan," he said. "Gusto ko sanang maka attend ng debut ng 14 year old daughter ko...pero Paano? Pinoproblema ko nga yung upa nitong bwan na ito. Koryente, pagkain.... Paano!!!???"

He then asked for prayers.

"Dahil hindi ko maisip kung paano. Wala akong naipon, Matagal na akong walang trabaho. Wala akong options! Nagdadasal ako para sa milagro," he related. "Pinagdadasal ko na sana may mga tumulong ulit sa akin. Na sana hindi magsawa at muli ay tumulong. Mga may konting sobra na magsshare ng kanilang blessings."

He added: "Hindi ko kayo kayang bayaran pero masusuklian ng Diyos ang inyong pasakit, kabutihang loob at pagmamahal. Kung meron sa inyong nahihipo ng Diyos na tumulong, nasa ibaba ang mga detalye kung saan pwede niyong ipadala ang tulong niyong pinansyal."

Dido pleaded: "Help me please...HELP US? Please continue praying also."

The veteran actor began his showbiz career in the 70s via theater.

He has since appeared in films and on TV, working with the likes of Coco Martin and Piolo Pascual.

Cinemalaya bestowed him the Best Supporting Actor award in 2017 for his performance in the indie "Respeto."
