QC gov't warns public vs text message about fake cash distribution
The Quezon City government on Tuesday, March 29, warned its residents regarding a fake text message that says Mayor Joy Belmonte and Arjo Atayde, who is running for first district representative, are distributing money in different parts of the city.
The message invites people to wear green shirts and come to different areas such as Barangays Toro and Bagong Bantay, JASMS West Triangle, and Project 6, where the mayor and Atayde were supposed to give money.
In a statement on Tuesday, the local government denied that the message came from them, saying that it only aims to deceive people and cause disorder.
“Sana po tayo’y maliwanagan at hindi maniwala sa mga ganitong panlilinlang. Hindi po natin papayagang masira ng maruming pamumulitika ang asenso na ating tinatamasa sa lungsod ngayon (We hope that we will be enlightened and will not believe such deceptions. We will not allow dirty politics to ruin the growth that is now being enjoyed by the city),” it said.
