PH Red Cross provides hot meals for Batangas residents affected by Taal's unrest

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) distributed hot meals to 650 individuals in evacuation centers in San Gabriel Elementary School in Laurel, Batangas and in Coral na Munti Elementary School in Agoncillo, Batangas over the weekend.

In a statement, PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sen. Richard Gordon, immediately mobilized PRC’s staff and volunteers and its pre-positioned equipment and supplies as soon as he heard the news of the volcanic eruption as well as its Hot Meals on Wheels trucks.
PRC deployed two food trucks as part of its response to Taal's recent eruption. PRC staff and volunteers also assisted the local government of Laurel in distributing food packs to 347 families and the local government of Agoncillo in distributing hot meals to 656 families.
As of 5 a.m. on March 28, Taal Volcano is still on Alert Level 3, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). PHIVOLCS has not recorded any volcanic earthquakes in Taal Volcano in the last 24 hours up to 5:00 a.m. of March 28.
PRC has deployed two 6x6 trucks; two ambulances, emergency medical services, units and three assessment teams as part of its immediate response.
“Laging nakahanda and Red Cross para tumulong sa ating mga kababayan sa ganitong mga sakuna (Red Cross is always prepared to help our citizens in times of disasters like this),” Gordon said.
