Over P500,000 worth of shabu seized, 5 nabbed in Iloilo City drug sting

Government anti-narcotics operatives seized P544,000 worth of shabu on Monday, March 28, following the arrest of five drug suspects in a buy-bust operation in Iloilo City.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspects as Jefferson Maala, 29; James Lorenz Emperado, 33; Adrian Kim Balasa, 19; Sim Kyle Marfil, 25 and Valerey Valencia, 28.
During the operation that was conducted at around 1:30 p.m., the PDEA and local police teams confiscated several sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 80 grams, one plastic box, one plastic scoop, disposable lighters, packs of plastic bags, rolled aluminum foils, improvised tooters, electrical tape, ball pen ink container and buy-bust money.
The suspects face charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 26 in relation to Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
The operation was carried out by the District of Molo Drug Enforcement Officers of PDEA Iloilo Provincial Office, Seaport and Airport Interdiction Units, PDEA-Aklan and Iloilo City Police Station 4 teams in Barangay san Juan Zone 2, Jardeliza Subdivision. (Chito A. Chavez)
