The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Uptown Mall management earlier released a statement, saying that the fire started at 11:30 a.m. from a “non-operational movie theater at the 3rd floor of Uptown Mall.”
“The fire was put under control a few minutes after it started with the help of the mall’s security and emergency responders, as well as firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), who immediately arrived at the scene,” it said.
The mall added, “Mall guests, tenants, employees and workers from the adjacent office towers were immediately evacuated following proper safety protocols and procedures. No injuries or casualties have been reported. We thank all our mall partners, mall employees, especially our customers, for their cooperation during the evacuation process.”
In a separate update, the mall said the Bureau of Fire Protection declared “fire out” at 2 p.m.
“Uptown Mall will resume operations starting at 3 p.m., with retail stores, restaurants and other establishments from the Lower Ground Level to the 2nd Level, and at The Deck at the 4th Level remaining accessible to customers. Rest assured that the safety of our guests and mall employees is our top priority,” it said.
