Scattered rains over Palawan, parts of Mindanao due to LPA

The effect of a low pressure area (LPA) has weakened but may still bring scattered rains over Palawan and parts of Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, March 28.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 15 kilometers east of Zamboanga City or in the vicinity of Tictaban Island as of 10 a.m.
The weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression and is expected to dissipate or exit the Philippine area of responsibility in the next 24 to 48 hours, the State weather bureau said.
However, scattered light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms may still prevail over Palawan, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay due to the LPA.
Meanwhile, the easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean will prevail over the rest of the country.
In its extended weather outlook for key areas from March 29 to April 1, PAGASA said that maximum air temperatures may reach 33-34 degrees Celsius (℃) in Metro Manila, 35-36℃ in Tuguegarao City, 25-26℃ in Baguio City, 31-32℃ in Tagaytay City, 31-32℃ in Puerto Princesa City, 32℃ in Metro Cebu, 32℃ in Metro Davao, and 32-33℃ in Zamboanga City.
PAGASA advised the public to stay vigilant as severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours, may also trigger flash floods or landslides.
