Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said not a single case of Covid-19 has been detected in the city over the past four days, which is a major feat considering that it was once a coronavirus hotspot.
In a report to Rubiano, the Ciy Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) said no Covid-19 cases have been detected for the past 96 hours.
Rubiano said the City Health Office and the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) also reported no patients were admitted in all of its isolation facilities within the hospital and at the MOA complex.
The mayor attributed the drop in the number of cases to the city’s vigorous vaccination campaign.
As of March 26, the city government already inoculated some 753,112 people.
“We have to remember that there are a number of non-Pasay residents who are working in the city. We have to vaccinate them so that they can work here,” the mayor said.
Rubiano also pointed to the city’s strict enforcement of the EMI habit (E- Ensure to always wash your hands; M- Mask is a must; and I- Implement physical distancing) in all barangays as part of the success in the fight against Covid-19.
She likewise thanked the barangay officials as well as the business owners in enforcing health protocols.
Pasay, where most transport hubs are found such as airports, bus terminals, and the light railway transit, was once considered as the city with the highest Covid cases in Metro Manila last year.
