Here's Speaker Velasco's b-day message for Duterte

Duterte family friend, House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco on Monday, March 28, thanked President Duterte for all he has done for the Philippines.

"On behalf of the House of Representatives and the Filipino people, thank you for all you have done for our country. May your legacy of meaningful change and comprehensive development live on in the hearts and minds of the next generations to come," Velasco said in a statement.

This was part of the Speaker's birthday message for Duterte, who is celebrating his 77th birthday.

This is the Chief Executive's last birthday in MalacaÃ±ang as he is scheduled to step down on June 30.

"We wish our beloved President Rodrigo Roa Duterte a happy birthday and a long healthy life.

"Mr. President, it has been my absolute pleasure to know you for many years now, and it is indeed an honor to be considered your ally and friend. I have been fortunate to be one of the beneficiaries of your wisdom," said Velasco, who represents the lone district of Marinduque in Congress.

"I hope you enjoy your special day, surrounded by the warmth of your family and loved ones. May God bless you, keep you, and strengthen you always," he added.

Velasco is particularly close with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, the President's eldest daughter. Mayor Duterte is running for vice president in the upcoming May 9 polls.
