GenSan doctors' group pledges support for UniTeam

GENERAL SANTOS, South Cotabato—A group of doctors called "UniTeaMD" has vowed to support UniTeam presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in the May 2022 polls.

The group consists of nearly 400 doctors based in this city and surrounding areas.

"We are 380 doctors strong in my group who fully support BBM and Sara, pero 20 lang kaming nandito, naniniwala kami na matutulungan nilang dalawa ang medical society, handa kaming makipagtulungan sa kanila (although only 20 of us are here now, we believe that the two of them can help the medical society, and we are ready to help them) said Dr. Jun Demontaño, the group's president and spokesperson.

"Alam namin na matutulungan kami ni BBM at Sara, lalo na sa pagsasaayos ng PhilHealth, hindi lang sa hospital pati sa mga doktor din, sa kanilang kakayahan at experience mapapalakas nila ang Universal Health Care (We know that BBM and Sara will help us, especially in fixing PhilHealth, not only in hospitals but among doctors also. Through their skills and experience they will strengthen Universal Health Care)," he explained.

UniTeaMD further pledged to cooperate with the tandem should they be elected in the 2022 polls.

"Kailangan din pakinggan ang mga doktor (We should listen to the doctors), we can give suggestion kung paano po ma-improve ang implemetation sa (on how to improve the implementation of the) Universal Health Care and other programs, we are willing to help," Demontaño said.

Marcos, who has been campaigning around General Santos City and the South Cotabato province since Sunday, March 27, thanked the doctor's group for their support, adding that the UniTeam would also support doctors and medical frontliners.

"Your expression of support and trust is not only for our candidates but also for the idea and concepts and the cost of unity that we all believe in because it is something that is necessary so that our country will move forward," Marcos. said.

"Ang ating mga doktor ay suportadong-suportado ng UniTeam, alam namin anong hirap, anong pagod at takot ang kinakaharap ninyo, asahan po ninyo na kung sakaling kami ay palarin, makikipagtulungan po kami, lagi po kayong nasa puso at isipan namin dahil sa sakripisyo ninyo sa bansa (UniTeam supports our doctors, we know the struggles, fatigue, and fears you face. You can count expect that if we get elected, you are in our hearts and thoughts because of your sacrifices)," Marcos concluded.
