Duterte's presidency 'different' says Andanar; 'We helped break the cycle'
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the Duterte Administration is different from its predecessors because of how the present government helped break the cycle of neglect and exploitation Filipinos have supposedly experienced in the past.

According to Andanar, the Duterte administration's people-centered approach in governance has been vital in achieving genuine change for the betterment of the nation.
"Tapang at malasakit (Courage and compassion) - this is something that is unique and new to any administration we've previously had," he told the Manila Bulletin.
"This love and care for the people and commitment (to) change is the brand of Duterte governance, something that people have been searching for all of these years - something that has been lacking in our society," he added.
He said the Duterte administration helped Filipinos be freed from neglect and exploitation.
"We helped break the cycle that has bound our people, especially our indigents, to a cycle of neglect and exploitation," Andanar said.
"We have brought justice and fairness, regardless of economic background, out of political will," he added.
The acting Palace spokesman said that the Duterte Administration's innovative and forward-thinking initiatives and programs have contributed to the overall development and progress of the country.
"Not only in our economy and infrastructure but most especially our peace and security from both internal and external threats," he said.
"This administration has fulfilled many of its campaign promises and isn't done breaking records and achieving what has not been achieved before," he added.
Over the weekend, Andanar said that President Duterte's courage and compassion had changed the lives of Filipinos compared to previous administrations.
"The Duterte Administration has broken barriers and achieved numerous accomplishments in these aspects that are truly incomparable to the accomplishments of previous administrations," he said in time for Duterte's 77th birthday on March 28.
He likewise enumerated the seven most significant legacies of the Duterte administration:
- Free college education and other poverty alleviation programs
- Anti-narcotics campaign, anti-corruption initiatives, and good governance
- Improved healthcare services
- Build, Build, Build infrastructure program
- Peace and security, and anti-insurgency efforts
- Safeguarding economic stability amid the pandemic
- Independent foreign policy
