Cool Smashers dethrone Crossovers, clinch semis berth

Creamline needed an extra set in dethroning Chery Tiggo, 25-18, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, Monday night to storm into the semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Cool Smashers banked on their starters throughout to oust the Crossovers in a battle of last year’s finalists.

Tots Carlos led with 17 points, Jema Galanza chipped in 16 points and Jeanette Panaga added 15 points for Creamline, which fell short in the third set but bounced back mightily in the fourth to claim the victory.

Alyssa Valdez also shone with 11 points while Celine Domingo contributed 10 for the Cool Smashers, whose victory set them up a semis meeting with the winner between Choco Mucho and PLDT.

It was a heartbreaking ending for Chery Tiggo despite the efforts of Mylene Paat, who finished with 11 points.
