Cayetano leads in 2 surveys for mayor in Taguig

Incumbent Taguig 2nd District Rep. Lani Cayetano led in two surveys for mayor of Taguig City.

Cayetano, who is running for mayor under the Nacionalista Party, is aiming to replace her brother-in-law, Mayor Lino Cayetano, who is in his first term but gave up his reelection bid for the May 9 polls.

Her opponent for the post of mayor is former Taguig-Pateros congressman Arnel Cerafica of Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP), who served for three terms from 2010 to 2019.

Cayetano topped two surveys for mayor conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) and Publicus.

The RPMD released the results of its survey on the 17 local government units in the National Capital Region.

Its NCR Boses ng Bayan 2022 election survey was conducted from March 15-21, 2022 among 10,000 registered voters aged 18 to 65 in the NCR.

The number of respondents was proportional to the number of voters per city and reallocated per barangay based on the number of voters. The margin of error was plus or minus one percent.

According to the RPMD survey for mayor of Taguig, Cayetano is No. 1 with 72 percent while Cerafica got 26 percent or a difference of 46 percentage points.

The Publicus survey was conducted March 16 to 21 among 1,648 registered Filipino voters in Metro Manila with a margin of error of plus or minus 10 percent for city results.

A total of 100 respondents were asked in Taguig to choose their preferences for mayor and vice mayor.

In the survey, Cayetano got 76 percent while Cerafica received 11 percent. The undecided voters totaled 12 percent.

For vice mayor, it is a close race between Councilor Arvin Alit, Cayetano’s running mate, and Janelle Cerafica of PPP and wife of Arnel.

Alit got 43 percent while Cerafica received 30 percent, or a difference of 13 percentage points. Alit’s latest tally is up by four percentage points from 39 percent in the Feb. 18 to 24 survey.

Cerafica increased her total by seven percentage points from 23 in the February survey. The undecided voters totaled 27 percent.
