2 alleged gunrunners nabbed in Valenzuela City

Two men who allegedly sell illegal firearms to newly established security agencies in three Metro Manila cities were arrested by police in an entrapment operation in Valenzuela City on Saturday, March 26.

Lt. Col. Imelda Reyes, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Project 4 Station (PS 8) commander, identified the suspects as Tito Dalman, 62, of resident of Malinta, Valenzuela City, and Emiliano Dalida, 58, of Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to police report, the Crime Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit of the National Capital Region (CIDG RFU-NCR) received a tip from an informant that the suspects were illegally selling guns to some new security agencies in Valenzuela, Pasay, and Quezon cities.

Joint forces of the PS8, CIDG RFU-NCR, Special Action Force, and the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) launched an entrapment against the suspects at Foresthill Subdivision in Novaliches, Quezon City at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

A police poseur-buyer and the confidential informant met Dalida who told them that he only brought four guns with him. They went to the South Market on McArthur Highway in Karuhatan, Valenzuela City, to meet Dalman who has five more firearms in his possession.

Upon their arrival at the location, Dalman guided them to a vehicle where he showed nine guns to the police officer.

Responding operatives arrested the suspects after the police poseur-buyer successfully purchased the guns for P15,000.

Authorities seized from the suspects one .45-caliber pistol, eight .38-caliber revolvers, one magazine, 15 ammunition, P102,090 cash, a wallet with P4,610 cash, six cell phones, a laptop, a shoebox, a black holster, and a white Mitsubishi Montero.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Omnibus Election Code, police said.
