Over P2.6M worth of marijuana, shabu seized in Baguio-Benguet

BAGUIO CITY â€“ A drug pusher listed in the Regional Top Drug Personality was arrested by the police during a buy-bust operation in this city on Friday, March 25.

Col. Glenn Lonogan, city director of the Baguio City Police Office, identified the suspect as Rodel Mirafuentes Lingganay, 35.

The suspect was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Lualhati as he sold 85 grams of shabu worth P578,000 to an operative acting as poseur-buyer.

Markings and inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by Kagawad Estela Ebon of Barangay Lualhati, Baguio City, Prosecutor Sigrid Canawil from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and media representative.

Lingganay is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.

The illegal drugs confiscated from Lingganay formed part of the combined amount of P2.6 million worth of shabu and marijuana seized in a single day buy-bust.

Col. Reynaldo Pasiwen, provincial director of Benguet Provincial Police Office said, operatives of the 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company have discovered a total of three marijuana plantation sites in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.

A total of 10,760 pieces of fully grown marijuana planted at 1,390 square meters land area were discovered. The police placed the value at P2,152,000.00. They were uprooted and burned on site.
