ILOILO CITY -- For the daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, there is good governance in the city and province of Iloilo.

“Diri sa Iloilo, tama kamo ka swerte kay bal-an ko nga bal an na ninyo ang buot silingon sang gobyerno nga tampad (Here in Iloilo, I know you're very lucky to fully understand what an honest government means),” said Aika Robredo during last Saturday’s grand rally of Team Uswag led by Mayor Jerry Treñas who is running for reelection.
“Sa gobyerno nga tampad, gina batak ang kabuhi sang tanan (With an honest governance, it’s easy to uplift the lives of everyone),” Aika added.
Aika acknowledged the appreciation shown by the Ilonggos for her mother’s presidential bid, especially when an estimated 40,000 people came to the grand rally at Iloilo Sports Complex last February 25.
Laya Diokno, the daughter of senatorial candidate and lawyer Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno, and Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon were also present during the March 26 campaign rally graced by Filipino alternative rock band Rivermaya.
With Mayor Treñas in the rally were incumbent Congresswoman Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, City Councilors Romel Duron, Ely Estante, Rudolf Ganzon, Carlos Javellana, Frances Grace Parcon, and Alan Zaldivar.
Also running for city councilor are Dr. Urminico Baronda, Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna, Atty. Rex Marcus Sarabia, John Eric David, Miguel Treñas, and Johnny Young.
Among the candidates present in the rally were Iloilo province governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., Iloilo 3rd District Congressman Lorenz “Noy” Defensor and Iloilo 2nd District Congressman Michael “Mike” Gorriceta.
Nominees for Uswag Ilonggo party-list also joined the campaign. It is led by first nominee Jojo Ang and second nominee Raisa Treñas.
