Comelec to push for review, recalibration of gun ban exemption and security application guidelines
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner George Garcia said they will be pushing for the review and recalibration of the gun ban exemption and security application guidelines.

In a statement on Saturday, March 26, he explained:"We have to make it easier and expeditious thereby removing hindrances and tedious administrative requirements."
"This is especially true for the members of the judiciary, prosecutorial service, PAO lawyers, government personnel performing sensitive duties, Comelec field personnel and the like," said Garcia.
The poll official said businessmen, security agencies and individuals with credible threat assessments will also benefit from the system overhaul.
Garcia said they will also decentralize the filing and processing of application to their regional offices in view of the improved pandemic situation.
The Election Period started Jan. 9 and will last until June 8, 2022.
During the said period, the Gun ban is in effect which means bearing, carrying or transporting of firearms or other deadly weapons, unless authorized in writing by the Comelec, is prohibited.
