The Team Malayang Quezon City (QC) led by mayoral candidate Anakalusagan Party-list Representative Mike Defensor held on Friday evening, March 25, a proclamation rally to kick off the local campaign for the 2022 elections.
The event was held at the corner of Victory and Manunggal Street in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City.
Defensor vowed to use the city’s fund for housing, education, livelihood, and benefits of the senior citizens.
“Madami pang kaguluhan na dapat tayong ayusin. Ang importante, na magkaisa ang pangulo at ang mayor ng Quezon City para ang katiyakan sa paninirahan dito sa Tatalon ay matapos na, at sa Quezon City wala nang squatter sa kanyang sariling bayan (There are still a lot of problems we need to fix. What’s important is for the president and the Quezon City mayor to unite in order to end the residency issue in Tatalon, and there will be no more squatters in Quezon City)” he said.
He promised that under his term, residents can get a 20,000 loan with no interest for them to start a business.
The lawmaker said that they will provide free uniforms, shoes, school supplies, tablets, WiFi and cellular data for the students’ education.
He added that senior citizens will also be able to get their monthly P500 allowance.
“At ‘yung P100,000 na makukuha pag isang daan (taon) na, bababaan po natin. Seventy years old pa lang P50,000. Pagdating ng 80 years old, another P50,000 (And the P100,000 that they will get once turn 100 , it will be given early. When they turn 70, they will get P50,000, and another P50,000 when they reach 80 years old),” Defensor said.
Defensor’s running mate is District 2 Councilor Winston “Winnie” Castelo.
Team Malayang Quezon City candidates for representatives in six districts are Onyx Crisologo (District 1), Precious Castelo (District 2), Allan Reyes (District 3), Marvin Rillo (Dirstrict 4), Rose Lin (District 5), and Bingbong Crisologo (District 6).
