Rep. Erice vows to end criminality, poverty, drugs in Caloocan City

Caloocan City District 2 Representative Edgar “Egay” Erice on Friday, March 25, vowed to end criminality, illegal drugs and poverty in the city if he wins the mayoral race in the May 2022 elections.

During Team Bughaw’s proclamation rally on Friday evening at the corner of 7th Avenue and Cordero Street in Gracepark, Erice promised to ensure the safety of each family and change the troubled image of Caloocan City.

“Yan ang simula ng pag-asenso ng Caloocan kung magiging tahimik, panatag ang ating paninirahan (That is the beginning of Caloocan’s progress, if we can live peacefully and secured),” Erice said.

The mayoral candidate added that he plans to hire and train more village watchmen (tanod) and raise their salaries to P7,000 per month instead of only P1,000. The quick response of police, firemen, and ambulances to residents’ call for help will also be ensured.

Erice said that under his term, all poor families will be given “blue cards” that will allow them to access health services for free.

Residents with health cards will be visited by doctors, nurses, and pharmacists in their homes for free checkups, while senior citizens will be given free maintenance medicines.

The lawmaker said he will also implement a house-to-house garbage collection, which will provide employment to poor individuals.

Senior Citizens and persons with abilities (PWD) who are healthy will be allowed to get jobs.

For housing, the congressman promised to provide affordable housing projects to some 15,000 families in the span of three years.

To give high school graduates an edge in the working industry, Erice said he plans to provide Grade 1 students with basic computer education.

However, he stressed that his plans would just go to nothing if criminality, drugs and poverty in Caloocan will not be put to an end.

“Pag nagawa natin ‘yan, maraming pamilya ang aasenso ang buhay (If we can do that, a lot of families would improve their lives),” He said.

Also running under Team Bughaw’s slate are PJ Malonzo for vice-mayor, Jacob Cabochan for congressman; Carding Bagus, Dennis Padilla Baldivia, Wewel de Leon, Merville Orozco and Lemuel Simpauco for councilors.
