What is the essence of being a woman?

This is what we asked Maui Taylor, Regine Tolentino, and Jo Berry recently in celebration of National Women’s Month.

According to Maui, the essence of a woman is not defined by her bearing a child or being a mother, a sister, or a daughter but about being empowered, independent, and brave in everything, inspiring and motivating people around her.

"Being able to fight for what is right, being a firm believer that women are capable of achieving their dreams in their way," Maui related.

She has always believed that woman has a special place in this world.

"Being an empowered woman makes me more inspired and motivated to empower women around me," she pointed out. "In that way, we can reach our full potential."

She also thinks working in an industry where having a voices is "very vital," it is her "duty" to voice out that woman is the same as man, they can do whatever that men can and should not be hindered by their gender.

"In that way, I also support gender equality," Maui declared.

The Viva artist reiterated that working in the entertainment industry has allowed her to work with different personalities of different gender and she can see that gender is not and will never be a hindrance to reaching one's full potential and their dreams.

"In this world where violence never ends, we must take a stand and fight for gender equality because it is also our human right."

As for Regine, she believes the essence of being a woman is being beautiful inside and out, having the strength in nurturing others, grace under pressure, and the power to bring forth the miracle of life.

Asked why she supports women’s empowerment and gender equality, the 41-year-old hot mama said: "Because I support love, peace and happiness!"

"As a mother and fitness advocate I want to empower my daughters and all women, because we are stronger and more productive, powerful, strong, confident, and beautiful when we back each other up!," she added.

According to Regine, her daughters empower her every day just by being a kindhearted, confident, strong, and smart woman.

"That makes me feel I did something good and my purpose is fulfilled," she said.

She then sent a message to all the women: "Love and take good care of yourself so you can shine that love on to others. Celebrate each day as a powerful woman because we are blessed with a beautiful life filled with love, opportunity, and purpose!"

On the other hand, GMA's "Little Princess" Jo agreed that woman is the personification of real strength and selfless love.

And this is what she wants to remind the ladies out there.

"Always remember that you are capable, strong and beautiful," she reiterated.

The 28-year-old Kapuso star strongly believes that one's capabilities cannot be defined by gender.

As for the empowered woman who inspired her, she shared: "My first teleserye was directed by a strong and loving woman, Direk Gina Alajar. I remember admiring her during my first taping day for 'Onanay' while watching her direct me and everybody on the set. She inspired me so much."
