CAGAYAN --The Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC) has distributed financial assistance for hog raisers in seven towns affected by African Swine Fever (ASF).
Acting Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Noli Buen reported to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office that around 105 hog raisers received financial assistance.
About 53 of the backyard raisers were from Pamplona, 23 from Aparri, 12 from Lasam, eight from Sta. Teresita, seven in Allacapan and one each in the towns of Lal-lo and Gonzaga.
The total aid given to backyard raisers amounted to P841,500. The distribution was done at the Sub-Capitol, Bangag and Lal-lo on Thursday. This was the initiative of the PGC through Governor Manuel N. Mamba.
The financial assistance is also part of the Oplan Tulong sa Barangay' activity under the 'No Barangay Left Behind' (NBLB). Mamba said the provincial government will continue monitoring ASF to prevent the further spread of the disease.
