Denice Zamboanga found herself in difficult position after realizing how crucial the rematch would be against South Korean fighter Ham Seo Hee when they lock horns in ONE: X, ONE Championship’s 10th-year anniversary event, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Saturday, March 26.

Zamboanga is set to settle unfinished business with Ham after suffering a controversial split decision loss in the first round of the inaugural ONE women’s atomweight grand prix last September 2021.
“Actually, hetong rematch iniisip ko talaga na sobrang importante nito (I realized that this rematch is very crucial and important),” said Zamboanga, who has an 8-1 record. “Kasi ‘pag nawala to sa akin, parang sobrang hirap na maging title contender kapag hindi ko naipanalo ‘yong rematch (I’d find myself in difficult position if I lose this rematch. It will be hard to become a title contender again).
“So talagang nag-focus ako for this rematch so I have a chance to fight sa title din (That’s why I was really focused so I have a chance to fight for the title),” added the Marrok Force stalwart.

Zamboanga fell to No. 2 in the women’s atomweight division after the conclusion of the grand prix.
Stamp Fairtex, former teammate of Zamboanga, not only ruled the tournament to become the first-ever women’s atomweight grand prix champion but also earned the No. 1 spot in the division.
Stamp is set to clash with reigning champion Angela Lee also in ONE: X.
While final decision boils down to ONE Championship, a win against Ham could indicate either a trilogy or a much-awaited title shot for Zamboanga.

The Filipina fighter couldn’t have it any other away as she had been on waiting game since expressing desire to face Lee.
That chance was passed down to Stamp as the winner of the ONE women’s atomweight grand prix.
Should Stamp win against Lee, Zamboanga is willing to set aside their friendship for a while and fight in the Circle.

“This is business, you know. I asked her if she is fine to fight with me and sinabi niya sa akin na okay lang (Stamp told me that she is fine fighting me),” added the 25-year-old Zamboanga. “Kasi para naman kaming nag-sparring sa loob ng cage. Para sa amin okay lang kasi business lang, walang personalan (I’d just consider our fight just like a sparring session from before. It’s all business and nothing personal).”
