La Union political, religious leaders back Mayor Garcia's congressional bid

TUBAO, La Union -- La Union’s political and religious leaders have thrown their support to second district congressional bet Dante Sotelo Garcia, citing his excellent leadership and people-centered brand of governance.

Garcia is running for a congressional seat in 2nd district of La Union under People’s Reform Party (PRP) where his opponent is re-electionist lawmaker Sandra Eriguel, who is running under Lakas-CMD party.

La Union vice Governor Mario Ortega and Tubao Mayor Jonalyn Fontanilla head the list of Garcia’s supporters that also include Bagulin Mayor Virgilio Flor, Burgos Mayor Robert Madarang Jr., former Bauang Mayor Martin de Guzman, and Aringay Mayor Eric Sibuma.

Political leaders from the 11 towns of the province’s legislative district likewise expressed their full support to Garcia’s dream of “bringing the government closer to the people.”

Religious leaders from the Catholic Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Crusaders of the Divine Church of Christ, Islam, United Methodist Church, United Church of Christ of the Philippines, and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente have also signified their intents to bolster the candidacy of Garcia.

During Friday’s proclamation rally in Tubao, Team Garcia kicked off its campaign with an earnest goal to stretch not only the growing support of the people in the second district of La Union but also to bring to their consciousness that good governance redounds to their welfare and progress.
