Call center agent shot dead in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY - A call center agent was shot dead in front of an elementary school in Barangay 31 here on Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Paul Angelo Diesto, 38, of Barangay 30 here.

Maj. Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 6, said the victim parked his sedan in the area to probably meet someone, when an unidentified man on board a gray sedan arrived, shot him, and fled.

Diesto succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and right hand.

Police recovered from the crime scene some empty shells of a .45 caliber firearm.

Estopa theorized that the victim may have known the perpetrator, giving the police initial lead to the case.

The police said they already have a person of interest who may be behind the killing based on the conversation the victim had with someone over a cellular phone.

He, however, said they will still have to check the victim's background if he had threats or enemies prior to the gun attack.

Estopa said the victim returned home in January this year, after staying with his fiancé abroad.
