ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo, Stray Kids members recover from Covid-19

K-pop idol and actor Cha Eun-woo and two members of boy band Stray Kids have recovered from Covid-19 while additional stars have tested positive for the virus.

In a notice on March 25, Fantagio, the agency of K-pop boy band ASTRO, said Cha Eun-woo has been released from isolation as he met the standards set by health authorities.

Cha Eun-woo, who starred in dramas such as “Gangnam Beauty” and “True Beauty,” tested positive for Covid-19 on March 18.

“Cha Eun-woo focused on home treatment and recovery in accordance with the guidelines of the Covid-19 quarantine authorities and daily activities are possible as the isolation has been lifted,” the agency said.

On the other hand, JYP Entertainment announced on March 25 that “Stray Kids members Changbin and Han’s quarantine has been concluded as of March 25th (Fri), 0 a.m. (KST).”

“Changbin and Han had been undergoing treatment at home in accordance with the guidelines of the disease prevention authorities, and they did not present any particular symptoms besides those of a slight cold during the quarantine period,” the agency said.

It added, “Since their quarantine has ended, they are able to return to their daily activities and participate in schedules starting today, March 25th (Fri).” South Korea's health authorities impose a seven-day isolation period for positive cases.

Changbin was the first to test positive for Covid-19 on March 18, the day Stray Kids released their new album “Oddinary,” followed by Han on March 19.

Six of the eight members of Stray Kids tested positive for Covid-19. Besides Changbin and Han, others who were diagnosed with the disease were Seungmin, Bang Chan, Lee Know and Hyunjin.

South Korea has been experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.

On March 25, South Korea recorded 339,514 new Covid-19 cases to bring the total confirmed cases to 11.16 million.
