Local bets in the May 2022 polls will officially start wooing the vote of voters on Friday, March 25, the start of the campaign period.

These are candidates for Members of the House of Representatives, regional, provincial, city and municipal officials.
In Resolution No. 10730, the poll body said it is unlawful for any person or for any political party or association of persons to engage in an election campaign or partisan political activity on Maundy Thursday (April 14), Good Friday (April 15), the eve of election day (May 8) and on Election Day (May 9).
Based on the Comelec's updated guidelines for the conduct of in-person campaigning, rallies, meetings, motorcades, and miting de avance under the new normal, all persons participating in all campaigns in whatever capacity are mandated to wear face mask and observe the minimum public health standards at all times during the political activity.
The allowable election campaign activities under each category level the following threshold shall be observed for caucuses, meetings, convention, rallies and meeting de avance
Level 1
•Allowed up to 100 percent of the operational capacity of the venue, whether indoor or outdoor.
Level 2
•Allowed up to 70 percent of the operational capacity of the venue, whether indoor or outdoor.
Level 3
•Allowed up to 50 percent of the operational capacity of the venue for enclosed outdoor; and 30 percent for indoor venues.
Level 4
•Allowed up to 30 percent of the operational capacity of the venue for enclosed outdoor; and 10 percent for indoor venues.
Level 5
•Not allowed.
In Resolution No. 10769, the Comelec said except for Category Levels 1 and 2, "no election campaign shall be conducted without first obtaining the prior approval from the corresponding Comelec Campaign Committee."
"In all category levels, a permit duly issued by the local government unit shall be required," it said.
The following activities, on the other hand, are prohibited during motorcades:
•Stopovers, layovers, and other stop for the conduct of other election campaign activities.
•Handshakes, hugs, kisses, going arm-in-arm, or any that physical contact among the candidate, theor companion, and the public;
•Taking selfies, photographs and other similar activities that require close proximity between the candidate and their companion, and the public; and
•Distribution of food and drinks, and all other goods or items.
The campaign period for local candidates is from March 25 to May 7.
