Three die in separate mishaps in Bacolod and Negros

BACOLOD CITY - Three persons were killed in separate road accidents here and in Negros Occidental on Wednesday.

Wilber Susboksan, 53, and resident of Barangay Mandalagan here, died after the sedan he was driving rammed into a 10-wheeler truck parked at the roadside in Barangay 1 in Kabankalan City.

According to Lt. Col. Raymond Cruz, city police chief, Susboksan was on his way to Kabankalan City when he probably dozed off, causing his vehicle to hit the rear part of the truck.

Cruz said that Susboksan was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while truck driver Ivan Morales, 26, of Barangay Bantayan, is detained at the police station, pending a possible settlement or filing of charges.

Later in the evening, Jerome Silvestre, 32, of Barangay Salvacion, in Murcia town, was on his way home on board a motorcycle when he hit a wing van truck parked at the roadside along Mansilingan-Murcia Road, Barangay Mansilingan here around 11 p.m.

Capt. Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said the victim may have been over speeding considering the resulting impact.

About an hour later, another accident occurred along Lacson-San Sebastian Streets, Barangay 32 here, resulting in the death of 29-year-old Angelie Pasman, of Barangay Singcang-Airport here.

Maj. Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said the victim was driving a motorcycle when she figured in an accident with a sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Sarona said the SUV driver, whose name was withheld upon his request to the police, later surrendered to the authorities.

Sarona said they will have to check a copy of a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of a nearby establishment to determine what really happened.
