Ralph Lauren's latest collection captures the glamor and charm of New York City

After almost three years, the luxury brand returns to the runway

Deviating from the usual schedule of the New York Fashion Week (NYFW), fashion label Ralph Lauren presents its first in-person runway show after almost three years. Held at the world-renowned Museum of Modern Art in New York City, its fall-winter 2022-2023 runway show is all about American luxury dressing capturing the glamor and charm of the brand’s home city.

The 61-piece collection started with an array of black and white pieces. An elegant parade of suits, coats, and knitwear gives off a modern take on the ‘80s and ‘90s style. Pops of crimson grace the runway through designs in plaids, houndstooth, and tartans. The designer also showcased Fair Isle-printed garments fit for skiing in the white snow slopes of Colorado. Ending the show is a line of evening wear pieces—classic tuxedos and chic column dresses—a chic invitation to enjoy the post-pandemic nightlife.

Doing the show a month after NYFW is designer Ralph Lauren’s idea. “There was no war in Ukraine. The tragedy and devastation we are witnessing now was unthinkable. Back then all I could think about was coming back together with my teams and all of you to share the hopefulness that collaboration and creativity can inspire,” the designer said. “In the midst of this sadness, we go forward united in our hope for peace, and our hope for the end of this pandemic and a return to being together.”
