ILOILO CITY -- The petition for salary hike in Western Visayas region by P355 per day will undergo review in the next few days.
In its March 23 advisory, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-6) under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-6) has set three public hearings for the petition.
DOLE-6 Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. said the board has already been reviewing the petition submitted by Fishta Union of Employees for Reforms Through Solidarity Actions (FUERSA-SUPER) of Negros Occidental last March 14.
FUERSA-SUPER is asking for a daily salary of P750 across all sectors in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
In its petition, FUERSA-SUPER noted that the current daily rate can no longer cover expenses, especially with the country still feeling the pinch after successive increases in fuel prices.
The current minimum wage for the non-agricultural sector in Western Visayas is P395 for companies with more than 10 workers and P310 for companies with less than 10 workers.
In the agriculture sector, the minimum wage is P310.
The last wage hike in the region was implemented in November 2019.
