The camp of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos expressed elation Thursday, March 24 after it gained the endorsement of the National Unity Party (NUP).

"The endorsement of the confirms that our movement for national unity and nation building which started as a mere whisper, is now a crescendoing national chorus," lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos's spokesman, said in a statement a few hours after NUP announced its backing of the UniTeam member.
"With deep sense of humility and gratitude, we extend our appreciation to the leadership and members of the NUP for placing their trust on presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos to fulfill the common vision- 'one nation, one future'," Rodriguez said.
The NUP is led by Cavite 4th district Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. It has long been among the larger and more influential political parties in the country.
"Indeed, together, as one, we are bound to make the dreams and aspirations of our people a tangible reality," the Marcos mouthpiece said.
Just a few days ago, Marcos, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) presidential bet, secured the endorsement of the Cusi wing of ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban). President Duterte chairs the party.
In a related development Thursday, Rodriguez corroborated reports from Malacañang regarding the meeting between President and the survey-leading Marcos.
“The BBM camp affirms the confirmation of PCOO (Presidential Communications Operations Office) chief and presidential spokesman Martin Andanar that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has recently met with presidential frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr.,” he said.
Marcos's running mate is the President's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. She is also a survey frontrunner.
