CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – At least two of the nine suspects in the death of hazing victim Reymarc Anoñuevo Rabutazo have been charged at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Sta. Cruz, Laguna on Tuesday.
These are Venzon Benedict Lacaocao, who voluntarily surrendered to the Laguna police on Tuesday, and Reyvince Espaldon who was arrested during a follow-up operation on the same day.
Police Regional Office 4A (PRO4A) regional director, Brigadier General Antonio Yarra, said the seven other suspects who are at large have been identified already.
Cases of homicide and violation of Republic Act No. 11053 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 were filed against the suspects.
"We are very sorry for their loss and saddened that a youth with a bright future died because of hazing,” said Yarra as he expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
Yarra is appealing to all parents to watch over their children’s activities and whereabouts to avoid this kind of incident.
Yarra meanwhile commended the Kalayaan Municipal Police Station for the immediate solution to the death of Rabutazo, who died during a fraternity initiation on March 20 in the mountainous part of Twin Falls, Barangay San Juan, in Kalayaan town.
