Laguna execs endorse 'idol' Mayor Duterte

Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez and his wife, Laguna 2nd district Rep. Ruth Mariano-Hernandez have endorsed the vice presidential candidacy of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio during a meet and greet with Barangay Health Workers in Santa Cruz, Laguna on Thursday, March 24.

Governor Hernandez highlighted Mayor Duterte’s tenure as the mayor of Davao City as the basis of his endorsement.

“Kilalang kilala din siya sa sarili niyang kakayahan. Siya po ay hindi pangkaraniwang mayor lamang dahil siya po ang outstanding mayor of the Philippines (She is known for her skill. She is not an ordinary mayor, she is an outstanding mayor of the Philippines),” Governor Hernandez said during the event.

“Sapagkat siya lamang ang katangi-tanging mayor sa buong Pilipinas na nakakuha ng 93 percent job approval rating, nalampasan niya pa yung record ng kanyang ama nung mayor na 86 percent (Because she is the only mayor in the Philippines that got a 93 percent job approval rating, even exceeding her own father’s record of 86 percent when he was mayor ),” he added, citing survey results released by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. from June to July 2021.

The lady mayor is the eldest daughter of President Duterte.

The governor is a member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party, the Cusi wing of which recently endorsed the presidential bid of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. Mayor Duterte is Marcos's running mate.

Rep. Mariano-Hernandez highlighted Mayor Duterte’s accomplishments as a woman leader, adding that the presidential candidate will continue her father’s “legacy".

“Iniidolo po natin bilang isang babae, bilang isang lingkod bayan, dahil siya po ay mabuting lingkod bayan (We idolize her as a woman and as a public servant because she is a good public servant),” Rep. Mariano-Hernandez explained.

“Subok na sa panunungkulan at may galing, may tapang at may malasakit sa mamamayan. Ipagpapatuloy niya ang legasiya ng kanyang ama para sa mabuting panunungkulan, magaling na pamamahala (Her leadership has been proven, she has courage, and concern for the people. She will continue her father’s legacy of good governance),” the solon added.
