Kris Aquino tells voters in Robredo rally: 'Don't vote for 'ex' on Uniteam slate'

Queen of all Media Kris Aquino campaigned against an ex-boyfriend in the UniTeam during the Tarlac People’s Rally of Vice President Leni Robredo and running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan in the Cojuangco-Aquino’s hometown and bailiwick of Tarlac.

Aquino joked to actress-philanthropist Angel Locsin-Arce that she seemed to be referring to her when Locsin said that what voters should look for in a candidate or partner is someone who shows up when needed.

“‘Di ba yung isa nasa Uniteam?! Yung ex? Oh, huwag niyong iboto yun ha. Sayang ang boto dahil hindi marunong tumupad sa mga ipinangako. Deadma please. (The other one is in UniTeam?! The ex? Oh, don’t vote for him anymore. Your vote will be wasted because doesn’t know how to fulfill promises. Ignore, please),” she told a crowd of 50,000 that gathered at the Ninoy Aquino Blvd. in Tarlac City.

Without dropping names, the controversial actress-TV host, the scion of the politically influential Cojuangco-Aquino clan in Tarlac, alluded to senatorial candidate Herbert Bautista.

Aquino and Bautista were in an on-and-off relationship for seven years, with the former Quezon City mayor even proposing marriage to her twice.

However, the actress-endorser earlier revealed that they had a closure shortly before she started dating former Interior Secretary Mel Sarmiento, who was a close friend of her brother, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

In November, Aquino, Bautista, and Sarmiento were embroiled in a public spat after Bautista mentioned his TOTGA, or “the one that got away” in a tweet.

Sarmiento said it was “ungentlemanly” for the former Quezon City official to use Aquino to get into the Senate’s Magic 12.

Aquino and Sarmiento also ended their engagement early this year.

Although vocal on social media, this was the first time that Aquino came out in person to endorse Robredo. She was also the first celebrity to endorse her during the 2016 vice-presidential race.

Looking frail during the rally in Tarlac City, she revealed asking Locsin to represent her in Robredo’s future sorties, anticipating that she may have to fly to the United States to seek treatment there for her medical condition.
