Tots Carlos sizzles as Cool Smashers survive Angels

Creamline drew strength from Tots Carlos as it outhustled Petro Gazz, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-10, Wednesday night to clinch the top seeding in Pool B of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Carlos erupted for 28 points highlighted 27 kills for the Cool Smashers, who remained unscathed in their group with three victories.

With the top seeding, Creamline arranges a meeting with the fourth-seeded squad in Pool A.

Petro Gazz, for its part, claimed the second seed and will collide with the third-seeded team in Pool A.

Jema Galanza also shone for the Cool Smashers particularly in the crunch, finishing with 18 points including four aces.

Alyssa Valdez added 17 points.

The Cool Smashers torched the net by unloading 76 attacks to make up for their lackluster defense where they failed to make a single block.

Creamline’s victory overshadowed the efforts of Grethcel Soltones, Aiza Pontillas and MJ Phillips, who finished with 23, 13 and 15 points for Petro Gazz.
