Pasay City cited for role in Manila Bay rehab program

The Pasay City government was cited by the national government for its role in the implementation of the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program.

Pasay City was named first runner in the Gawad Taga-Ilog 2.0: Search for the Most Improved Estero (Creek) in Metro Manila conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR).

RR Salvador, City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) supervising administrative officer, said the Estero de Tripa, located at Barangay 143, Pasay City, got the first runner up award for the most improved estero (creek) in Metro Manila for the year 2021 to 2022.

Salvador said the city’s award was related to the Supreme Court mandamus and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) guidelines for rehabilitation and preservation of Manila Bay.

Estero de San Miguel in Manila was declared as the champion in the search, followed by Tripa de Galina in Pasay and Makati; Park Creek 23 in Marikina City; Polo River in Valenzuela City, and Zapote River in Las Pinas City.

The CENRO supervising administrative officer said the awarding was held on March 22 at Makiling Hall, Park Inn, Radisson, North EDSA.
